Superb Facilities For You To Enjoy
Although originally built in 1910 the attractive Tudor style building has been completely refurbished to offer you modern, luxurious facilities within a classic setting. So you get to enjoy the best of both worlds.
St Johns has 3 lounges, 3 lounge dining rooms, I dedicated dining room and a sun lounge so you’ll never be short of a somewhere to spend your time to suit your mood.
All communal areas and private accommodation areas have level access to make getting about easy. While access to the upper rooms is made effortless by using the passenger lift, with a member of staff available to assist you if required.
Occupational Therapists were consulted to ensure all the facilities throughout the care home are easy to use to help you to maintain your independence. However, if you ever do need help, it’s reassuring to know that it’s only a call away on the Nurse Call System which is fitted throughout the home.
Mouth Watering Meals
Our Gourmet trained chef provides mouth watering food from an excellent menu that caters for all tastes and special needs. You can choose to eat in the main dining room, with a small group of friends in one of the lounge areas, or on your own in your room however the mood takes you. |

Award Winning Staff to Look After You
You may well have heard horror stories of people being ill treated and even abused while living in a care home. Thankfully this is extremely rare, but can happen when unknown and untested carers are used to provide staff cover.
We believe it’s important to be looked after by people you know well, you trust and who are familiar with your personal needs and preferences. That’s why unlike other care homes St Johns’ never ever uses temporary agency staff. Almost all our staff have been with us for many years and dedicate their lives to caring for you.
Perhaps this is one of the reasons that we won ‘Best Employer Award’ at the RBS Great North Care Awards 2008, which recognises best practice throughout the care industry. |

The countryside surrounding St Johns is so lovely you may also want to take advantage of one of our regular outings in the local minibus to explore it.
Great Local Transport Connections
If you prefer to venture further a field on your own, the nearby local villages have full amenities available to you including: general store, post office, newsagents, pub, WI & adult education classes and a historic church.
Connections from the home to the wider area are excellent with a local bus service within walking distance and the local train station for the York Harrogate line just 1 mile away providing the gateway to you for all destinations.
